Pavement access concern in Brighton and Hove
Possability People giving disabled people a voice
Possability People has been hearing from disabled people across Brighton & Hove about growing problems with the city’s pavements. Issues such as cracks, uneven surfaces, tree roots and blocked drop-kerbs can make everyday journeys difficult or unsafe, particularly for people who use mobility aids or have reduced mobility.
Accessible streets are essential for disabled people to move around the city safely and independently. When pavements aren’t maintained or become obstructed, it can have a real impact on people’s confidence and ability to get out and about.
In response, Possability People is bringing disabled people together to share their experiences and highlight the issues they are facing. The feedback will be gathered and presented to Brighton & Hove City Council (BHCC), helping to ensure disabled people’s voices are clearly heard in discussions about pavement maintenance and accessibility. We are also inviting BHCC to attend a future meeting to provide feedback.
