Peer Support Group
Looking to connect with others who are disabled or have a long-term health condition in a supportive space?
What is our Peer Support Group?
Peer support is about connecting with people who have shared or similar lived experiences. It offers a safe, welcoming space to come together, support one another, share experiences, and learn from each other. Whether you choose to talk, listen, or simply be part of the group, everyone is welcome to participate in a way that feels comfortable for them.
We meet in a small, friendly group where everyone is treated with kindness, respect, and understanding, creating opportunities to build connections and reduce isolation.
Together, we create a welcoming community where everyone’s voice is valued
Who is our group for?
Our group is for disabled people, people with long-term health conditions, and neurodivergent people who live in Brighton and Hove. If you have access or support needs to attend we will discuss this with you.
When is the group?
Our peer support group meets three Wednesday’s early afternoons each month at Montague House, Kemptown.
What to expect
The group is shaped by the people who attend. Members are encouraged to share their lived experiences, strengths, challenges, ideas, and interests, helping to create conversations that are meaningful, supportive, and relevant to the group.
Themes may include:
- Wellbeing and mental health
- Understanding ourselves and each other
- Recognising our strengths and navigating challenges
- Building confidence and resilience
- Managing everyday life
- Self-advocacy and independence
- Building connections and reducing isolation
- Celebrating achievements and personal growth
Every session is different, reflecting what matters most to the group. Together, we create a welcoming community where everyone’s voice is valued, everyone is respected, and everyone has something valuable to contribute.
What additional support do we offer?
Getting started
Before joining the group, everyone is invited to a short one-to-one welcome meeting. This gives you the opportunity to find out more about the group, ask any questions, and discuss any access or support needs to help you feel comfortable attending.
Optional check-ins
If you’d like a little extra time to reflect while attending the group, we offer optional in-person check-ins every six weeks. These provide an opportunity to talk about how you’re finding the group, celebrate what’s going well, explore any challenges, and think about your personal goals.
How can I find out more?
We’ll be happy to have a friendly chat and help you explore if the group feels right for you
