The Best Qualification Is To Care

Local charity’s new recruitment film for its home care agency

Local charity, Possability People, is looking for new staff for ‘At Home’ it’s bespoke care agency.  At Home provides a high quality service for its clients, with no home visits being less than an hour and support provided by PAs (personal assistants) who are carefully matched to meet the needs of the person they will be working with.

The staff team are well rewarded financially, with round the clock management support and ongoing training and supervision.

Chief Executive, Geraldine Des Moulins says:

“At Possability People, we like to do things differently and with something as vital to a person’s independence as home care, this is especially true. Because we start with the needs of our clients – whether that’s support to go out, or travel, or support to get ready for work first thing – we know exactly who will be the right person to provide that support. We also know that it doesn’t have to be someone with previous care experience.

“In fact, we strongly believe that people who have not done care work before because they don’t think they would be qualified could be brilliant PAs. The best qualification for the role is to care”.

Some of the charity’s staff and clients are featured in a new film: The Best Qualification Is To Care. It hopes to attract people who might not have considered working in the profession before.

PA, Awa, says: “I’ve been with them for nearly two years now. I love it. I love it. Because I love the people in there, the office, and I love the job that I’m doing”.

PA, Lemees, says: The training is really amazing and is updated the whole year. The technical support is brilliant too.

Chair of Possability People’s Trustee Board, Maddy Hamp says:

“One of the misconceptions about being a PA is that you’re going to be stuck in doors. You’re just going to be there making cups of tea, taking somebody to the toilet and that’s about it.

“That couldn’t be further from the truth. I’ve certainly done all manner of things with my PAs. We’ve been to London, we’ve been around Brighton festival… they help me to be more independent in my life.

Geraldine says: “If care work isn’t something you have thought about before, maybe think about it now. If you want a change of career or scenery, or to do something which feels worthwhile and rewarding, have a look at our film. It could change your life as well as someone else’s”.
