About the GIG

Possability People’s Get Involved Group (GIG) is our user involvement group. It provides a platform for a people with a lived experience of being disabled to influence things that directly affect them, as well as a befriending opportunity for its participants.

It’s members, whose health conditions and impairments are varied, are passionate about representing the needs of disabled people. They speak from experience, and take a professional, adaptable and knowledgeable approach to participation.

What the GIG does

Disabled people are the best people to make decisions about things that affect them. Our members identify such issues and help plan solutions to improve services and accessibility for everyone in Brighton and Hove.

GIG meetings

We hold monthly meetings on previously agreed, topical issues. They take place in accessible venues across the city. We also hold regular socials for GIG members, disabled people and their carers.

We post details of our upcoming events on our event pages, so make sure you remember to have a look for them.

Current consultations

One of the ways the GIG supports disabled people to have their opinions heard is by taking part in consultations.  This page contains the consultations which are currently open and looking for input.

Access Audits

Our Get Involved Group has delivered several access audits for developments in Brighton and Hove.  We support groups of people with various impairments to provide feedback on plans. We carry out site visits with council planning staff to give practical advice on new building or road developments or can advise venues on how to be as accessible as possible.
