Supporting disabled employees

Possability People’s Employment Service supports employers as well as staff and potential staff.

We know employers want to do the right thing when it comes to recruiting people with impairments or health conditions, but sometimes don’t have the knowledge, understanding or confidence to do it.

As a Disability Confident Leader we carefully monitor our own employment practices to make sure we are genuinely supporting disabled people. This means we are well placed to understand what it is like to support disabled people at work; we do it every day.

Sharing our knowledge and experience means more employers feel confident and supported to recruit disabled people and enjoy the benefits of a more inclusive and diverse workforce.

We offer:

  • Disability confident training for both staff and employers
  • Workshops on issues including Accessible IT equipment to Mental Health Awareness in the Workplace
  • Bespoke packages of support for employers
  • A consultancy service tailored to individual employers – we act as a bridge for employers to support disabled people in their jobs.

We use a range of inclusivity and diversity tools and resources to ensure that you, as an employer, can support your staff to work and reach their full potential.

We can advise you on how to meet your legal obligations under The Equalities Act and work in a ‘best practice’ way, which also fits in with your business model.

We can talk you generally about what reasonable adjustments for a disabled employee might be, and advise you on specific situations. We can also support your employees to learn how to manage their condition at work, acting as a go-between if necessary.
