Job Description – Advisor and Volunteer Coordinator

We are a Brighton & Hove based charity who works with disabled people, older people and young people, or anyone with an impairment or long term health condition. The Advice Centre offers benefits advice from the initial entitlement check through to support at 1st Tier Benefits tribunal, for clients in the Brighton & Hove area, their carers and professionals.

This is an exciting opportunity to join our busy Advice Team. As well as providing benefits advice and working on appeal casework you will be coordinating our team of dedicated volunteers.

A good knowledge of State benefit entitlement including disability related benefits advice is essential.  You will have experience of supporting volunteers and be conscientious, empathetic, a team player and have a lived experience, or an in-depth understanding of the barriers disabled people face. You will be committed to the provision of quality services and support for disabled people.

Initially you will work from home (during the present Covid 19 crisis), at a later time you will be based in our Kemp Town office. The role involves some home visiting and you will need to be able to travel independently around Sussex.


Part time post         30 hours per week

Salary                      £24,799 per annum pro-rata
