An older man’s story

A 64 yr old man, just shy of 65, with osteoporosis, tendonitis of the right shoulder and chronic obstructive lung disease.  He was turned down outright for PIP. Had he not appealed or been unsuccessful, he never would have qualified, as post-pension age he would have to claim attendance allowance, which provides far less financial support.

With the advice centre helped him to lodge his appeal, produce and submit grounds and source medical evidence. On the strength of these submissions, the DWP overturned their decision prior to tribunal, and awarded him enhanced rate daily living and mobility, resulting in backpay of £10,980.77 and an increase in his monthly income of £559 until 2025
