Staying independent

Our Continuing Independence Service can help you to stay independent. It is suitable for people living with a range of health conditions, or who need some support to stay independent and at home. It is Care Quality Commission registered.

Most of would agree that planning to stay healthy, independent and at home for as long as possible is something we would like. Our independent care service will help you to look at all the options to stay independent.

The Continuing Independence Service, which is registered with the Care Quality Commission, is suitable for people living with a range of health conditions, such as for people with physical or sensory impairments, people living with dementia or memory loss, people with learning difficulties, older people and people with mental health problems.

Personal budgets and direct payments give people a chance to choose, employ and organise their own support (usually personal assistants). But sometimes the idea of being an employer can be off putting. Our Continuing Independence Service is perfect for people who want support without the responsibility of being an employer.

We will:

  • Take time to find out about you, your family and friends
  • Find out about what you need and what your interests and hobbies are
  • We will learn about your lifestyle and things you like
  • Learn about any health conditions you might have.

When we have a full picture of who you are, we can look at what support you might find helpful.

That might mean someone to help with the housework, gardening or dog walking. You might want help getting ready each day or someone to accompany you to appointments or social outings. We have a wealth of knowledge about what’s available locally and all the expertise to integrate a range of services from different places to best suit you.

We will be pleased to work with home care providers so that people can have a mixed package of care, which will be especially useful for older people who want to have choice and control.

Our Care Quality Commission report

We are registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) to provide personal care.

We have recently had our first inspection, and have been rated as good, and The Care Quality Commission  found that we provide a caring, effective, responsive service which is well led and person centred.

The provider regularly sought feedback from people and undertook regular reviews to ensure that they were fully involved in planning their support. Feedback from people was positive, one person had written, “I feel very lucky to have the support of such an amazing team.”

The only area which needed improvement was around staff references. We immediately audited all staff files, and references and employment histories were all obtained within 24 hours. Since then we have also employed administrative staff to better support the service.
